In the early morning hours of November 16, 2025, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of the 300 block of Pine Street in Americus, Georgia. When officers from the Americus Police Department arrived at the scene at approximately 1:13 a.m., they discovered two individuals with apparent gunshot wounds. One of the victims was 17-year-old Brandon Brown, a male resident of Americus.
Both Brown and the second victim, 27-year-old Kaley Mercedes Arizmendi, also of Americus, were initially transported to Phoebe Sumter Medical Center for treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, Brown was subsequently transferred to Phoebe Putney in Albany. Despite medical efforts, he later succumbed to his wounds. A third individual, 20-year-old Royce Miguel Arizmendi, was present during the incident but was not injured.
The Americus Police Department, in conjunction with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, has launched a homicide investigation into the shooting. At this time, no information regarding any arrests or potential suspects has been released to the public. The investigation remains active and ongoing as authorities continue to seek information from the community regarding the circumstances that led to the death of Brandon Brown.
