On August 6, 2023, 21-year-old African American male Quavis Deanta Hall was shot and killed during a violent incident at the Monitor Enrichment Program in Fitzgerald, Georgia. The shooting occurred around 2:00 a.m. during a large gathering, often described as a homecoming event. The tragic episode also left a 16-year-old male injured with a gunshot wound to the arm. He was treated at Dorminy Medical Center and later released in stable condition.
