In the early morning hours of August 20, 2023, the life of 30-year-old Robert Evans, also known as Robb Cain, was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting in downtown Macon, Georgia. Evans, a Black male, was at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Poplar Street when the incident occurred shortly after 4:00 a.m.
According to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of a person shot and found Evans at the scene.
An altercation had reportedly taken place, during which multiple shots were fired at him. Evans was quickly transported to Atrium Health Navicent Hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Another man who was walking on the sidewalk at the time of the shooting was also struck by gunfire, sustaining a non-life-threatening wound to his leg. He was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle and was listed in stable condition.
The investigation into the shooting led authorities to identify 21-year-old Terrial Deshon Dean Jr. as a suspect. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office sought the public's assistance in locating Dean, who was described as being 5'1' and weighing 180 pounds. Investigators also released information about a second person of interest who was seen with Dean on the night of the incident.
On October 1, 2023, Terrial Deshon Dean Jr. was apprehended and taken into custody. He was arrested by the Jones County Sheriff's Office and subsequently transferred to Bibb County. Dean was charged with the murder of Robert Evans and is being held at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center without bond. The arrest was made possible through the efforts of the Bibb County Sheriff's Office and tips received from the public.
