On September 11, 2023, a fatal shooting occurred at the Wilson Apartments located in the 3400 block of 8th Avenue in Columbus, Georgia. The victim, 21-year-old Javon Cherrl Smith, was pronounced dead at 12:01 A.M. on September 12, 2023, after being shot in the chest.
