In the fall of 2023, the life of a 40-year-old Black man, Marlin Foster, was violently cut short in Stone Mountain, Georgia. A caring and respectable truck driver, Foster was a devoted father to his three children and a loving son to his mother. His death on October 13, 2023, was not only tragic but also brutal in its execution, leaving a family shattered and a community searching for answers.
On that October day, what remained of Marlin Foster was discovered in the backseat of a car
that had been deliberately set ablaze. The intensity of the fire was so severe that it rendered his body almost unidentifiable, compelling investigators to rely on dental records for a positive identification. The subsequent investigation revealed a grim sequence of events: Foster had been shot in the head before the fire was started, indicating a calculated and ruthless act of violence. The profound grief of his mother, Marie Proctor, was compounded by the horrific state of her son's remains, leaving her without a body for a traditional funeral and forcing her to cremate him instead.
The DeKalb County police are actively investigating the murder of Marlin Foster. His case is being looked at alongside another, chillingly similar incident where a man was also found shot to death in the back of a burning car. While authorities have not officially linked the two homicides, they have not dismissed the possibility of a connection.
