James Smith, a 17-year-old Black male from Stone Mountain, was found shot to death on February 15, 2024, in a wooded area off North Hairston Road near Central Drive in DeKalb County. The place where he was discovered was the kind of spot people pass without a second thought until police tape and patrol lights turn it into something haunting.
