In the late afternoon of Sunday, November 26, 2023, a dispute between two groups of people who were acquainted with one another escalated into deadly violence at a Circle K gas station on Candler Road in Decatur, Georgia. During the altercation, gunfire erupted, leaving 41-year-old Antione Lewis with a critical gunshot wound. He was found inside a vehicle and rushed to a local hospital, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Two other individuals, a man and a woman, also sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds during the incident and transported themselves to the hospital.
The investigation into the shooting led DeKalb County Police to identify suspects in the case. One suspect was taken into custody at the hospital shortly after the incident. On December 20, 2023, the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Unit, with assistance from the Georgia State Patrol's SWAT unit, arrested 26-year-old Demarco Boyer at an apartment complex in Atlanta. Boyer faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is being held without bond. Another individual, Omni Ali Woodward, was also arrested in connection with the fatal shooting.
