On a late Wednesday evening in July 2021, 19-year-old Jakare McKeller was fatally shot outside a Food Mart located on Flat Shoals Parkway in Decatur, Georgia. McKeller, who was just days away from his twentieth birthday, was described by his grandmother, Johnnie Jones, as a 'lovable kid.' He had recently started a new warehouse job and was excited about his future. Ms. Jones had raised her grandson since he was five months old and was devastated by his sudden and violent death.
