In the late summer of 2025, a quiet residential street in Decatur, Georgia, became the scene of a tragedy that cut short the life of a young man. Stephen Bailey, a 28-year-old Black / African American male, was found shot to death on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 13, 2025. The circumstances surrounding his death remain a somber mystery, leaving a community in search of answers.
DeKalb County Police Department officers were called to a home on the 2400 block of Brentwood Court, a
residential area in the Candler/McAfee neighborhood. Inside, they discovered Bailey, who had sustained at least one gunshot wound. Paramedics who arrived at the scene were unable to revive him, and he was pronounced dead. The following morning, authorities formally identified him, and the case was officially classified as a homicide.
