Summary based on 7 sources
Anthony Malik Lenard, known to his loved ones as “Tater,” was a 19-year-old focused on building a future for himself. The oldest of 13 siblings, Anthony was a beloved son, grandson, and brother. His family described him as an all-around good kid who was not involved in gangs. He worked at a local Goodwill and had recently been accepted into a trade school to study HVAC repair, a field he was excited to pursue. Anthony played football for Towers High School in Decatur, Georgia, graduating in 2025. His family remembers him as their whole world, a piece of them that was stolen far too soon.

On the night of Sunday, October 11, 2026, Anthony was on his way to his aunt’s house to get something to eat. At around 11:06 p.m., he was sitting in his silver sedan in a cul-de-sac in the 1600 block of Treasure Cove Drive in Decatur when he was attacked. A neighbor who was cooking dinner for her children heard multiple gunshots erupt just outside her door. She looked out and saw a dark-colored car speeding away down the street with its headlights off. When DeKalb County Police officers responded to a call about a person shot, they found Anthony unresponsive inside his car, which was riddled with bullet holes. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators with the DeKalb County Police Department determined the fatal shooting occurred during an armed robbery. The investigation quickly led to the identification of three suspects. Police arrested 17-year-old Alexzandria Webb and 21-year-old Ershorne Roach-George, charging them both with murder and armed robbery. A few days later, on October 16, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit arrested a third suspect, 18-year-old Damian Edwards, at a residence on Mount Zion Road in Morrow. Edwards was also charged with one count of felony murder and one count of felony armed robbery for his alleged role in Anthony’s death.

All three suspects were booked into the DeKalb County Jail and are being held without bond. Investigators have not publicly disclosed what, if anything, was stolen from Anthony or his vehicle, nor have they confirmed if he had any prior connection to the individuals accused of killing him. DeKalb County Sheriff Melody Maddox stated, "We will never stop working to bring wanted individuals into custody. We are committed to pursuing justice for victims and their families, ensuring that those who break the law face the consequences of their actions."

In the days following the shooting, Anthony’s family gathered at the cul-de-sac where he died, the pavement still covered with shattered glass from his car windows. His mother, Ambreya Lenard, overcome with grief, said, "My child didn’t deserve this at all. I lost a piece of me. My everything. I lost my whole world. I’m so empty." His father, Azelle Tucker, expressed the deep pain of his loss, stating, "They took my oldest son from me. He got 12 other sisters and brothers. He was the oldest. This hurts. I know hate is a very strong word, but I hate them for taking my baby from me." Anthony's grandmother, Marrion Willis, spoke of his recent accomplishments and his bright future, saying, "He just got accepted to school. He was trying to be an HVAC. He wanted to repair stuff."

The case against Alexzandria Webb, Ershorne Roach-George, and Damian Edwards is proceeding through the court system as of October 2026. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have asked for the public’s help.
