In the early evening of December 18, 2023, the community of Glennville, Georgia, was shaken by an act of violence that claimed the life of 32-year-old Tyrice Harkeem Tigner. An African American male, Tigner was fatally shot near the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and Church Drive. The incident unfolded around 6:05 p.m., prompting numerous 911 calls from concerned residents who reported a shooting in their neighborhood.
Law enforcement from the Glennville Police Department and
the Tattnall County Sheriff's Office were the first to arrive at the scene. They discovered Tigner suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services were immediately rendered, and he was quickly transported by ambulance for further medical attention. Tragically, Tigner succumbed to his injuries while en route to the hospital. His death has since been ruled a homicide, a result of the gun violence that cut his life short.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist with the investigation, working in tandem with local law enforcement.
