In a tragic and unforeseen turn of events, Brandon Harris, a 43-year-old man, was fatally shot in Forest Park, Georgia, on a Friday morning in January. He was inside the ATC Income Tax office on West Street, diligently at work, when violence shattered the ordinary day.
The incident began when a man, later identified as 33-year-old Victor Baymon, arrived at the tax office armed with a gun. Baymon had reportedly followed his ex-girlfriend to the location. In the ensuing chaos, Harris was shot and sustained fatal injuries. Another individual in the office was also shot but survived. Baymon's ex-girlfriend was not physically harmed in the shooting. Harris's death occurred on the birthday of his 11-year-old son, a day that was meant for celebration but instead became one of profound loss.
Following the shooting at the tax office, Baymon embarked on a violent crime spree. He is alleged to have carjacked two vehicles and shot another man who was working on his property on Old Jonesboro Road. The series of violent acts prompted a multi-agency manhunt. Hours later, authorities were able to track Baymon to Powder Springs using Flock cameras. A police pursuit ended when Baymon crashed the stolen vehicle into a tree.
Victor Baymon was taken into custody and, after being hospitalized for injuries sustained in the crash, was set to be transferred to the Clayton County Jail. He faces a multitude of charges, including malice murder, armed robbery, hijacking a motor vehicle, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
