On a Tuesday evening in late August, the sense of normalcy at the Grove Park Apartments in Columbus, Georgia, was shattered by the sound of gunfire. On August 27, 2024, just before 9 p.m., police received a call about a shooting at the complex. When they arrived, they found a 24-year-old Black female, Jabreia Burston, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was rushed to Piedmont Columbus Regional for medical attention.
