On September 9, 2024, a devastating incident occurred in DeKalb County, Georgia, where Derris Deshaun Woods, 35, and his girlfriend, Brittany Hall, 28, both from Decatur, were found dead inside a home on Cohassett Lane. The house had been fully engulfed in flames and had partially collapsed, making it difficult for firefighters to conduct a thorough search immediately. The bodies of the victims were discovered after the fire was extinguished.
