In the late hours of an autumn evening in Albany, Georgia, a dispute at a local billiards pub tragically escalated, ending the life of 36-year-old Lorne Niel Odom. On October 4, 2024, officers were dispatched to the Break Time Pub & Billiards on Palmyra Road around 10:32 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Odom in the parking lot, suffering from a gunshot wound to his back. He was rushed to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
The investigation into the shooting revealed that the incident stemmed from a physical altercation inside the bar. Odom had reportedly escorted 53-year-old Michael Nix from the establishment. Following this confrontation, Nix is alleged to have produced a firearm, pursued Odom, and fired a shot that struck him in the lower back.
In connection with the death of Lorne Niel Odom, authorities took Michael Nix into custody. He has since been charged with Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Following his arrest, Nix was transported to the Dougherty County Jail.
