On October 11, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred at an extended-stay hotel in the Stone Mountain area of Gwinnett County, Georgia. The victim, identified as 60-year-old Victor Ricks from Snellville, GA, was found in the hotel's parking lot suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
