In the early hours of a Tuesday morning in Southeast Washington, the life of 56-year-old Michael Evans of Clinton, Maryland, was tragically cut short. On April 4, 2023, at approximately 12:45 a.m., officers from the Sixth District responded to a report of a shooting in the 600 block of 46th Place, Southeast. Upon their arrival, they discovered a male suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene, but after an assessment, they found no signs of
life. Michael Evans was pronounced dead at the location, his life taken in an act of violence that would soon lead to a swift arrest. The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch immediately began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
Later that same day, detectives announced a significant development in the case. An arrest was made in connection with the homicide. Fifty-year-old Garry Denny, a man of no fixed address, was taken into custody by the police. He was subsequently charged with second-degree murder while armed for his alleged involvement in the shooting death of Michael Evans.
