In the evening hours of Friday, June 2, 2023, a violent encounter inside a residence in the 2900 block of Nelson Place, Southeast in Washington, D.C. claimed the life of 58-year-old James Samuels. Responding to a report of a shooting at approximately 8:33 p.m., Sixth District officers discovered Samuels inside the home, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene, but found no signs of life.
