On October 30, 2023, the body of 25-year-old Kwame Keith was discovered in the 1800 block of Fairlawn Avenue SE in Washington, D.C. The police were called to the scene shortly after 7:30 a.m. following a report of human remains, where they found Keith's body inside a trash can.

An autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that Keith's cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.
