On a Monday afternoon, May 27, 2024, the life of 23-year-old Chidozie Njoku, a Black man from Temple Hills, Maryland, was cut short by gunfire in Northeast Washington, D.C. The fatal encounter occurred around 2:45 p.m. in the 4000 block of Minnesota Avenue, where officers from the Metropolitan Police Department arrived to find Njoku suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
