On a Monday afternoon, May 27, 2024, the life of 23-year-old Chidozie Njoku, a Black man from Temple Hills, Maryland, was cut short by gunfire in Northeast Washington, D.C. The fatal encounter occurred around 2:45 p.m. in the 4000 block of Minnesota Avenue, where officers from the Metropolitan Police Department arrived to find Njoku suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
