In the late hours of a Wednesday evening in Washington, D.C., a young man's life was tragically cut short. Vaughn Dozier Jr., a 21-year-old Black male from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, was fatally shot on June 19, 2024. The incident occurred at approximately 11:25 p.m. in the 900 block of S Street, Northwest.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of a shooting and discovered Dozier on the sidewalk, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His family later shared that they believe he was killed while defending his friends from an attempted robbery by three individuals.
The Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating the case as a homicide and has reached out to the public for assistance. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this violent crime. As of now, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing as his family continues to seek justice for their son, who they remember as a passionate DJ and talented roller skater.
