In the early morning hours of Friday, July 5, 2024, the life of 32-year-old Anthony Willis was cut short by gunfire in Washington, D.C. The incident occurred at approximately 12:36 a.m. in the 700 block of Upsal Street, Southeast.
Responding to a report of a shooting, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene to find that Willis had already been transported to a local hospital in a private vehicle.
Despite all lifesaving efforts by medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Willis was a resident of Northwest D.C.
The Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating the fatal shooting as a homicide. As of now, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the case. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to piece together the events that led to the deadly encounter.
In an effort to gather more information, the police department is appealing to the public for assistance. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Anthony Willis. The case remains a painful and unresolved tragedy for his family and the community.
