In the evening hours of August 19, 2024, a burst of gunfire shattered the late summer calm on Stanton Road in Southeast Washington, D.C. When the chaos subsided, two men were found with gunshot wounds. One of them, 19-year-old Vonte Martin, a male resident of Southeast D.C., was pronounced dead at the scene.
