A quiet Saturday afternoon in Washington, D.C. was shattered by the discovery of a young man's body near the historic Rock Creek Cemetery. On November 9, 2024, at approximately 4:46 p.m., police were called to the rear of the 5000 block of First Street, Northwest, following reports of a shooting. There, in an area of the cemetery grounds, they found 22-year-old Brandon Ward, a resident of Northwest, D.C., unconscious and suffering from gunshot wounds. D.C.
Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene, but their lifesaving efforts were in vain, and he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the death of the adult male was immediately launched by the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch.
