On a cool evening in Washington, D.C., the life of a young Black man, Kevin Marzell Leonard, was tragically cut short. On Saturday, March 15, 2014, at approximately 6:08 p.m., in the 4500 block of East Capitol Street, Northeast, the sounds of gunfire shattered the urban peace. When officers from the Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene near the Benning Road Metro station, they found Mr. Leonard suffering from gunshot wounds.
