On February 22, 2020, at approximately 5:06 PM, 17-year-old Wilfredo Torres and 16-year-old Jaime Zelaya were tragically shot and killed in the 6000 block of 13th Street NW, Washington, DC. The two teenagers were walking into an apartment complex after grabbing dinner from a nearby McDonald's when a gunman with a high-powered rifle followed them inside and opened fire. The shooting also injured Zelaya's mother, who was shot seven times but survived after multiple surgeries.
