In the early moments of a Wednesday, just after midnight on January 21, 2026, the life of 18-year-old Malik Moore was tragically cut short, marking the first homicide in Washington, D.C. for the year. A high school student from Northeast, D.C., Moore was inside a residence on the 1300 block of Varnum Street, Northeast, in the Michigan Park neighborhood when he was shot multiple times.
