On July 8, 2024, a drive-by shooting occurred in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, near the 800 block of Northwest 10th Terrace. This incident resulted in the deaths of two individuals, including 45-year-old Sheldon Lawrence of Fort Lauderdale. Lawrence was one of the adults who suffered gunshot wounds and later died at a local hospital due to his injuries.
The shooting happened shortly before 8 p.m., prompting multiple 911 calls and a ShotSpotter alert.
When police arrived, they found several victims, including a 2-year-old child, Deagoo Henry, who was the son of the other deceased victim, 28-year-old Tiarra Holliday of Plantation. Deagoo suffered a skull injury that required surgery and a broken leg. Two other adults were also injured but their identities have not been released, and their injuries were non-life-threatening.
The incident was characterized as a drive-by shooting, with the suspects immediately fleeing the area after opening fire. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. Police are actively seeking the suspects and have appealed to the community for any information that could lead to arrests. A cash reward is being offered through Crime Stoppers for information leading to the apprehension of those responsible.
