Javoris Washington, a 29-year-old resident of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, died on May 21, 2015, during a police-involved shooting. The incident occurred after Washington barricaded himself inside a home with a woman whom he was holding hostage. According to police reports, Washington was armed with a knife and was under the influence of the drug "flakka" at the time of the standoff.
