Ka'Shawn Williams, a 20-year-old resident of Lauderhill, Florida, tragically lost his life on the night of August 4, 2020, in a drive-by shooting in Oakland Park. At approximately 10 p.m., Williams was a passenger in a white Lexus driven by his friend, Laurence Yancey, 19, when a dark-colored vehicle pulled alongside them near the 3800 block of Powerline Road. For reasons that remain unclear, an individual in the dark-colored vehicle opened fire on the Lexus, striking Williams.
Despite Yancey's efforts to seek help by driving to the 3000 block of Northwest 21st Avenue, Williams succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Oakland Park Fire Rescue.
