In the early morning hours of Saturday, July 30, 2023, the life of 20-year-old Patrick Semaj Jordan of Little Rock was tragically cut short. At approximately 3:55 a.m., officers from the Little Rock Police Department were dispatched to 800 Broadway Street following a report of shots fired. Upon their arrival, they discovered Jordan suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services were called to the scene and attempted to render life-saving aid to the young man.
Despite their efforts, Patrick Jordan succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Homicide detectives were notified and began their investigation, securing the area and canvassing for any potential witnesses or video surveillance that might shed light on the events that had transpired. The Pulaski County Coroner's office later transported Jordan's body to the State Crime Lab to determine the official cause of death.
As the investigation progressed, detectives were able to identify two individuals as suspects in the fatal shooting. Mickell Taylor and Overdis McKenzie Jr., both 19 years of age, were taken into custody and brought to the Major Crimes Division for questioning. Following their interviews with detectives, both Taylor and McKenzie Jr. were formally arrested and have since been charged with Capital Murder in connection with the death of Patrick Jordan. The investigation into the homicide is ongoing.
