On November 1, 2023, just after 1:00 AM, officers of the Pine Bluff Police Department responded to a reported shooting at St. John Apartments, located at 1105 E. 26th Ave. in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Upon arrival, they found a male lying unresponsive in the parking lot near the southeast corner of the apartment complex. The victim, identified as 21-year-old Cedric Hawkins, was pronounced dead at the scene by Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelly.
