In the late hours of July 20, 2022, a sense of disquiet settled over the 100 block of North 5th Street in Clinton, Iowa. Responding to a call of a shooting at 10:39 p.m., police officers arrived to a grim scene. On a sidewalk lay Zachary McDivitt, a 35-year-old Caucasian male from Clinton, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to MercyOne, but tragically, his life could not be saved, and he was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
