In the winter of 2015, a young man’s life was tragically cut short in Phoenix, Arizona. Peter Waymen James Jr., a 20-year-old male, was killed on February 13th in what police would later describe as a planned robbery that spiraled into deadly violence. The incident unfolded at an apartment complex where James Jr. was found shot in the doorway of a residence.
Initial investigations by Phoenix police pointed toward a drug-related robbery.
According to authorities, three teenagers, 18-year-old Terrance D.T. Brown, 19-year-old Jvon D. Williams, and a 17-year-old whose name was not initially released due to his age, had conspired to rob a drug dealer. The plan allegedly involved the 17-year-old arranging to buy marijuana from the dealer at the apartment. Brown and Williams were reportedly waiting nearby to assist in the robbery.
When the 17-year-old went to the apartment, a confrontation occurred. It was during this altercation that Peter Waymen James Jr. was shot. Following the shooting, the three teenage suspects fled the scene. The subsequent police investigation led to the identification and arrest of Brown, Williams, and the 17-year-old. All three were taken into custody in the days following the fatal shooting and faced charges related to the incident.
