A simmering business dispute between brothers in Phoenix, Arizona, erupted into a shocking act of violence that left five family members dead, including 38-year-old Reda Diaeddinn. The male victim of Moroccan descent was killed on April 16, 2015, in a tragic murder-suicide perpetrated by his own brother.
The horrifying events unfolded at a north Phoenix home where a heated argument between the siblings took a fatal turn.
The suspect, identified as 50-year-old Driss Diaeddinn, opened fire on his family members. Among the victims were his and Reda's mother, 76-year-old Kenza Benzakour, their other brother, 56-year-old Dodi Fayed, and Reda's 26-year-old wife, Meriem Ben Yahia. The brothers had been involved in a shared business venture, which included a car-for-hire service and a restaurant, and disagreements over this business are believed to have been the catalyst for the deadly confrontation.
In the midst of the chaos, Driss's wife managed to escape the residence with their two young children and alert the authorities. Another sister was also able to hide within the home and emerge safely after a SWAT team surrounded the property. When officers finally made entry into the house, they discovered the bodies of the four victims. The investigation concluded that after killing his family members, Driss Diaeddinn went into a bedroom and took his own life. The incident was not a random act of violence but the devastating culmination of a family dispute. No arrests were made as the sole suspect was deceased at the scene.
