In the early morning hours of May 14, 2023, the life of 19-year-old Rodolfo Gonzalez was cut short in a burst of gunfire. The fatal shooting occurred in a neighborhood near 84th Lane and Osborn Road in Phoenix, Arizona. Just before 7:29 a.m., police received a call reporting that shots had been fired at two individuals. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered two men who had been shot.
Rodolfo Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries.
The second man who was shot was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The violence of the incident was evident, as multiple houses and vehicles in the vicinity were also struck by gunfire, though no other community members were harmed.
The suspect or suspects involved in the shooting fled the scene in a vehicle before the police could arrive. The Phoenix Police Department's homicide detectives are currently leading the investigation into the events that led up to the shooting.
