In the early hours of a Monday morning in July 2015, the quiet of a Glendale, Arizona neighborhood was broken by the sound of an argument followed by a single gunshot. Shortly after, a resident discovered the body of 30-year-old Rosa Fernandez-Mendoza in an alley. The Glendale woman had sustained a fatal gunshot wound and, despite the efforts of first responders who were called to the scene just after midnight, she was pronounced dead.
