In the late evening hours of a Friday in Glendale, Arizona, the life of 27-year-old Yarely Ashley Hermosillo was tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence. On August 15, 2025, Hermosillo was a passenger in a vehicle, accompanied by her boyfriend who was driving, her mother, and her young son, who was either three or four years old. They were uninvolved in a burgeoning conflict between two other drivers that would ultimately have fatal consequences for the young mother.
The
incident unfolded at an intersection where two pickup trucks had stopped. An argument erupted between the drivers, escalating into a road rage confrontation. One of the drivers, later identified as 33-year-old Jesus Preciado Dousten, allegedly brandished a handgun. Instead of firing at the driver he was arguing with, he discharged the weapon in a different direction. A single stray bullet pierced the window of the car carrying Hermosillo and her family, striking her in the head. Her boyfriend immediately rushed her to a nearby hospital, but her injuries proved fatal, and she was pronounced dead.
In the wake of the shooting, the Glendale Police Department launched an intensive investigation. Utilizing surveillance footage from multiple cameras, detectives were able to identify the suspect's truck. Their investigation led them to Jesus Preciado Dousten, who was located and arrested at his apartment the following day. A search of a residence he had visited after the shooting resulted in the discovery of two handguns.
Dousten was subsequently charged with several felonies, including second-degree murder, aggravated assault, misconduct involving weapons, and endangerment. He was taken into custody and held on a $1 million bond. Authorities noted that Dousten had admitted to drinking and playing poker at a friend's house earlier in the evening, although it was not immediately clear if he was under the influence at the time of the shooting. The other driver involved in the initial road rage incident was identified but was not charged with any crime.
