LaCount had reportedly informed Harris about the victims' activities inside the house just thirty minutes before the shooting. She also admitted to providing Harris with the revolver used in the murders, which she had taken from her father-in-law's gun safe.
Both Kipling Harris and Kimberly LaCount were arrested in connection with the murders. Harris was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder. LaCount faced charges including conspiracy to commit murder. Authorities stated that both had admitted to their involvement in the shootings. The investigation revealed that LaCount had allegedly been trying to find someone to kill her husband for years, and Harris was the one who ultimately carried out the act.
