On a Friday evening in Tucson, Arizona, the life of 49-year-old Cindi Wiley was tragically cut short in what police have described as a murder-suicide. The incident unfolded on January 25, 2019, at a residence on the city's east side. Cindi, a female, was found with fatal gunshot wounds inside her home in the 200 block of North Fenceline Drive.
Neighbors alerted authorities after hearing the sound of gunfire coming from the Wiley home at approximately 4:30 p.m.
A concerned family member also placed a call to 911, expressing worry for the welfare of those inside the residence and mentioning the possible presence of an 8-year-old child. When officers arrived at the scene, their attempts to make contact with anyone inside the house were unsuccessful.
Given the potential danger and lack of response, the Tucson Police Department's SWAT team was dispatched to the location. After forcing entry, a robot equipped with a camera was sent into the home, revealing the grim scene of two unresponsive adults on the floor. SWAT team members then entered and found Cindi Wiley and her 53-year-old husband, Andrew Wiley, both deceased from gunshot wounds.
The investigation concluded that Andrew Wiley shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself. Fortunately, the 8-year-old boy, who was Cindi's grandson, was found unharmed inside the house and was later released into the care of other family members. No other suspects were sought in connection with Cindi's death, and no arrests were made as the perpetrator was deceased at the scene. Cindi Wiley was a registered nurse who had earned her Family Nurse Practitioner degree in 2017 and was working at a local urgent care facility at the time of her death.
