In a quiet home on the west side of Tucson, Arizona, the lives of two friends were tragically cut short. On June 17, 2019, 62-year-old Matt Alford, a White male, and his friend, 60-year-old Lewis Jetty, were found deceased inside Alford's residence. Responding police officers discovered both men with evident signs of gunshot wounds, immediately launching a double homicide investigation.
The Tucson Police Department's investigation into the brutal killings led detectives to uncover that
items had been stolen from Alford's home. This crucial detail became the thread that unraveled the case, pointing them toward a suspect. Their inquiry led them to 61-year-old Michael Hollie, a man with a prior arrest record for unrelated offenses. At the time of the investigation, Hollie was already in custody at the Pima County Jail on other charges.
Through the trail of stolen property, detectives were able to connect Hollie to the double homicide. On February 21, 2020, he was formally charged with two counts of first-degree murder, in addition to armed robbery, first-degree burglary, and trafficking in stolen property. The evidence suggested that a violent robbery had culminated in the deaths of both Matt Alford and Lewis Jetty.
