In the late hours of a Friday evening in Tucson, Arizona, the life of 24-year-old Arturo Gastelum was tragically cut short. On November 7, 2025, what began as an argument at a residence in the 4600 block of South Calle Jon escalated into a fatal act of violence. An altercation between Gastelum and another man, identified as 21-year-old Jerome Middleton III, took a dark turn, resulting in Gastelum being shot.
Following the shooting, Gastelum attempted to flee the scene in his vehicle.
However, his journey was brief. He was discovered shortly after in his car, which had gone off the roadway near the intersection of South Campbell Avenue and East Irvington Road. Tucson Police and the Tucson Fire Department responded to the scene, but the gunshot wound proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced deceased.
The investigation into the homicide moved swiftly. The day following the shooting, on November 8, 2025, authorities located and arrested Jerome Middleton III. He was subsequently booked into jail and faces a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the death of Arturo Gastelum.
