In the summer of 2019, a tragedy unfolded in Tucson, Arizona, forever altering the lives of two families. On June 17th, 60-year-old Lewis Jetty, a male resident of the area, was found deceased alongside his friend, 62-year-old Matt Alford. The grim discovery was made at Alford's home, where both men showed clear signs of having been shot. The incident was quickly determined to be a double homicide, prompting an intensive investigation by the Tucson Police Department.
Detectives arriving
at the scene began the arduous process of piecing together the events that led to the violent deaths of Jetty and Alford. As they meticulously examined the residence for evidence, they uncovered that several items had been stolen from the home. This crucial detail provided investigators with their first significant lead, pointing them in the direction of a potential suspect. The stolen property became the thread that would ultimately unravel the case and lead to an arrest.
The investigation led authorities to 61-year-old Michael Hollie. As it turned out, Hollie was already in custody at the Pima County Jail on charges unrelated to the double homicide. Through their diligent work, detectives were able to connect Hollie to the stolen items from Alford's home. With this evidence in hand, on February 21, 2020, authorities brought formal charges against him. Hollie was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, in addition to armed robbery, first-degree burglary, and trafficking in stolen property, bringing a measure of resolution to the tragic loss of Lewis Jetty and Matt Alford.
