In the early morning hours of July 18, 2020, the life of 49-year-old Richard Ulibarri, a White/Caucasian male, was tragically cut short in a violent encounter on the south side of Tucson, Arizona. Deputies from the Pima County Sheriff's Department were dispatched to a mobile home park located at 4444 E. Benson Highway around 3:30 a.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr. Ulibarri with evident signs of trauma.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting revealed that there was a second victim present who managed to survive the incident. Witnesses reported that the individuals responsible for the shooting had fled the area on foot immediately after the event. This prompted an intensive investigation by homicide detectives who conducted numerous interviews to piece together the events of that fatal morning. Their efforts led to the identification of five suspects in connection with the homicide.
Within a few weeks of the incident, authorities successfully located and apprehended all five individuals. The suspects were identified as 20-year-old Gabriella Acosta, 18-year-old Noah Arguellez, 20-year-old Nea Jones, 20-year-old Ariel Monarrez, and 20-year-old Robert Yslava-Varela. All five were arrested and booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Complex. They are facing multiple felony charges, including the grave charge of first-degree murder, for their alleged involvement in the death of Richard Ulibarri.
