In the early morning hours of September 12, 2020, the life of 42-year-old Agustin Bustamante was tragically cut short. A Hispanic male, Bustamante was standing on the balcony of his room at a Super 8 Motel located near Interstate 17 and Northern Avenue in Phoenix, Arizona, when he was fatally shot. The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m., and the assailant fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
Emergency services were dispatched to the motel, and Agustin Bustamante was
quickly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The Phoenix Police Department's Violent Crimes Bureau immediately launched an investigation into the homicide, seeking any information that could lead to the person responsible for this senseless act of violence. Friends and family remembered Bustamante, who was known by the nicknames 'Fito' and 'Porky,' as a caring and humorous individual.
The investigation led authorities to identify a suspect in the shooting. On September 17, 2020, just five days after the incident, 37-year-old Carlos Ramirez was arrested in connection with the death of Agustin Bustamante. Ramirez was subsequently charged with murder and misconduct involving weapons. At the time of his arrest, he was the only individual identified as a suspect in the case. Authorities continued to appeal to the public for any additional information regarding the shooting.
