On the night of September 29, 2023, Leander Nephew, a 33-year-old male of White/Caucasian ethnicity, was found critically wounded from a gunshot in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, after officers were dispatched around 11:15–11:16 p.m. on an “unknown trouble” call near the intersection of 7th Street and Jefferson Street, just east of Chase Field.
