In the quiet neighborhood of Mesa, Arizona, the life of 17-year-old Joseph Seibold, a White/Caucasian male, was tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence. On the night of February 17, 2021, at approximately 10:39 p.m., Joseph was sitting in the driver's seat of his vehicle in the area of 3rd Drive and Chestnut. It was then that a group of teenagers approached his car, and one of them fired a gun, striking the young man.
Responding to a call about the shooting, Mesa Police
officers discovered Joseph with a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Joseph Seibold succumbed to his injuries the following day, leaving his family and community in mourning. The last communication his father received from him was a text message just minutes before the fatal encounter.
In the wake of the shooting, investigators learned that three suspects were seen fleeing the scene. The Mesa Police Department launched an investigation that led to the identification and arrest of one of the individuals involved, a 14-year-old boy. This suspect was subsequently charged and sentenced to juvenile prison, where he will remain until his 18th birthday.
While one arrest has been made, the other two suspects remain at large. In an effort to bring all those responsible to justice, the police released a composite sketch of one of the outstanding suspects. He is described as a Hispanic male in his late teens with brown eyes. The Mesa Police Department and Silent Witness continue to seek information from the public that could lead to the apprehension of the remaining individuals involved in the murder of Joseph Seibold.
