In the spring of 2021, a domestic dispute in Phoenix, Arizona, escalated to a fatal conclusion, leaving a Black / African American man named Laron Thomas dead. On April 14, 2021, at a residence near 7th Street and Bell Road, Thomas was shot and killed. The incident, initially shrouded in a claim of self-defense, would later lead to a murder charge against his then-girlfriend.
