In the evening hours of a Sunday in west Phoenix, a family gathering turned into a scene of tragedy and violence. On November 14, 2021, 46-year-old Hispanic male, Armando Carrillo, known to some as Ardo, was shot and killed. The incident unfolded around 7:30 p.m. in the area of 83rd Avenue and Osborn Road, where police were called to the scene.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Armando Carrillo suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced dead at the location. The initial shock of the event soon gave way to a swift investigation by the Phoenix Police Department.
The investigation quickly pointed toward a suspect who was tragically close to the victim. Detectives identified Armando's younger brother, 42-year-old Daniel Carrillo, as the individual responsible for the fatal shooting. It was determined that Daniel had fled the scene immediately after the incident. However, law enforcement was able to locate him a short time later and take him into custody.
Following his arrest, Daniel Carrillo was booked into jail, facing charges for his involvement in his brother's death. While the immediate family was left to grapple with the loss of one brother at the hands of another, the motive behind the tragic altercation was not immediately made clear by authorities as the investigation continued.
