On July 19, 2018, Jose Manuel Gonzalez, a 23-year-old man from Phoenix, Arizona, was fatally shot during a confrontation at a Circle K gas station near 35th Avenue and Osborn Road. The incident occurred when Gonzalez, who was already at the gas station on foot, approached two vehicles that had pulled up. An argument ensued between Gonzalez and multiple individuals who exited the vehicles.
